Allen S. Weiss is the author and editor of over forty books on performance theory, landscape, gastronomy, sound art, and experimental theater, including: Feast and Folly: Cuisine, Intoxication, and the Poetics of the Sublime (State University of New York Press); Comment cuisiner un phénix and Autobiographie dans un chou farci (both Mercure de France); Métaphysique de la miette (Argol); as well as a novel about Baudelaire, Le livre bouffon (Le Seuil).

He most recently produced and directed Poupées des ténèbres, a documentary film on the dolls of Michel Nedjar and their relation to the Holocaust.

He teaches in the departments of Performance Studies and Cinema Studies at the Tisch School of the Arts of New York University.
