Patrick Pheasant
Patrick Pheasant, Director of the Centre for English Teaching at the University of Sydney, shares research on aesthetic engagement in process drama and how it can be utilized in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) to create powerful learning experiences for participants.
Patrick has conducted workshops with teachers in process drama and TESOL in Australia, USA, Cambodia, Ireland, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, France, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Peru.
Drawing on his recent phenomenological research in the study of aesthetic engagement and dual state awareness, Patrick highlights techniques in identifying engagement in language learning and the teacher behaviors that trigger it.
He draws from 20 years international teaching experience, recent research for his PhD and the experience of students and teachers at the Centre for English Teaching in Sydney, Australia.
